This StreamdaysFREE camera takes in the skiing areas of the Wildschonau Valley, Tirol, Austria. Niederau is about 45 mins from Innsbruck and an hour and a half or so from Munich and Salzburg.

The valley runs roughly East-West with the skiing in Niederau being on the North facing side. One of the great things about Niederau, of course, is the skiing! The slopes are all within view of the camera with the gondola station right in the heart of the village and available in one of the camera's preset views.

The camera is located on the South facing side of the valley which ensures it is perfectly located to take maximum advantage of every sunny moment!

Reykjavik is the largest city, and capital city of Iceland. It is the world's most northerly capital city and was probably the first permanent settlement in Iceland, established around 870 but officially founded in 1786. Reykjavik is just south south of the Arctic Circle and receives only around four hours of daylight each day in winter. During summer the nights are almost as bright as the days! Reykjavik contains about 60% of Iceland's total population.

Stained Glass Workshop Webcam

A live webcam looking down on the workshop area of a stained glass restorer and conservator.

Linley Stained Glass repairs, restores, conserves and makes stained glass, leaded lights and art glass. Their main work is ecclesiastical conservation and restoration, but they also take on domestic and commercial projects, from repairs to traditional architectural features, to the design and creation of contemporary art-glass installations using more modern processes. They also design, make and install protective guards and restore metalwork such as cast frames and church hoppers.

Linley Stained Glass were recently featured on Channel 4's Grand Designs programme, which is currently being repeated on the More4 channel.

The webcam is an amazing insight into the restoration and conservation process. Linley is a family-run business employing ten staff, established in 1975 in Hawarden, Flintshire.

The Club was founded on 25th January 1955 with HRH The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, as President. Originally named the Household Brigade Polo Club, the name was changed to its current form in 1969. Since inception, the Club has grown considerably and it is now the largest polo club in Europe in terms of membership and number of grounds.

There are currently about a thousand non-playing members and about 160 playing members, including some of the highest ranked players in the world. Approximately 25 per cent of the players are overseas visitors from Europe, the Middle and Far East, North and South America, Australia and New Zealand. Around half of the playing members are professionals.

Kyleakin is the first village you enter when travelling to the Isle of Skye, crossing over from the mainland by the (over-the-sea) and now toll-free Skye Bridge. Kyleakin has a smart coffee bar; two restaurants, two hotels and three public bars all offering various beers and spirits and good meals. There is also a small village store and sub-post office. While this camera only gives a glimpse of Kyleakin, the views around about are nevertheless spectacular.

A ten minute walk or a five minute drive across the Skye Bridge takes you into Kyle of Lochalsh, and Badicaul, just North of Kyle, which has two large supermarkets where provisions can be purchased; a similar number of hotels, bars and restaurants, two banks and a main post office, a large swimming pool, marina and harbour facilities.

Weir Wood Reservoir, East Sussex

This StreamdaysFREE cam shows Weir Wood Reservoir and Ashdown Forest. At the western end of the reservoir is a Local Nature Reserve. The rest is used for fishing and water sports and the camera shows views up and down the reservoir.

The reservoir has a breeding colony of great crested grebes and migrating ospreys in Spring and Autumn. The area used to be a river valley and was used as an ironworks in Roman times. There is a large slagheap marking the site. The reservoir was completed in 1953 and is owned by Southern Water.

The best views of the nature reserve can been seen from the main car park, though this camera comes a close second! There is a hide and a feeding station for wild birds, and many footpaths around the area.

Conservation work at the reserve is carried out by East Sussex County Council with the Friends of Weir Wood.

Aruba may be the smallest of the ABC (Antilles, Bonaire, Curacao) Islands, but its southwest coast is a tourist favorite thanks to white sand beaches, aquamarine waters and vibrant casinos. Stirred by the trade winds, the air is clean, dry and temperate, with a daily average of 82 degrees Fahrenheit.

Since Aruba lies outside the hurricane belt, it gets less rain than almost any other Caribbean island and doesn't offer a lush interior. Mersea Island, Essex and The Strood

This live webcam on Mersea Island overlooks the Strood channel and the Strood causeway. The causeway is part of the B1025 between Mersea and Colchester, which can become covered during high tides (known as spring tides). During particularly high tide it is impassable by vehicles including the emergency services, except for those with high clearance, for over an hour.

Mersea Island is the most easterly inhabited island in the UK and is located off the coast to the southeast of Colchester. The current crossing, or causeway, was first constructed in Roman times.

Coniston Water Webcam, The Lakes

This web camera is located at Bank Ground, one of the most beautifully situated farmhouses in the Lake District. Bank Ground was the setting for Arthur Ransome's famous children's story Swallows and Amazons, and scenes at the farm were used in both the book, and the film Swallows and Amazons.

This streaming webcam (click "View live video" on the webcam itself) takes is spectacular views of Coniston Water, rolling hillsides, Langdale valley, Coniston Village, The Old Man of Coniston, Coniston Lake and more.

Coniston Water has been the scene for many attempts to break the world water speed record. Most famously by Donald Campbell in the late 1950's, who set four successive records in his Bluebird K7. Donald Campbell sadly died on his attempt to exceed 300 miles per hour in 1967.

Gloucester Rugby Stand Rebuild

If you've ever wanted to watch as demolition and reconstruction of a rugby stadium takes place, now's your chance.

Gloucester Rugby's 75-year old stand at Kingsholm is being demolished and replaced by a state-of-the-art stand which is set to increase capacity from 6,000 seats to almost 17,000. This is a significant development for the club and the fans and it can all be watched live on this webcam.

Most of the demolition is now complete and many fans snapped up souvenirs from the original stand that they'll cherish forever - or sell on eBay!

Banff Harbour Webcam

Banff, in Aberdeenshire, is one of those undiscovered, unspoilt areas full of history and tradition, but with a modern approach to life. This webcam shows Banff Harbour and the view out to the choppy North Sea.

Banff has had a port since the 1100s, and there is evidence that King Malcolm IV of Scotland lived here for at least part of 1163. The town's harbour silted up and fell into disuse in the 1800s, leaving Macduff, on the east side of Banff Bay, to take up the role of principal commercial port along this stretch of coast.

Banff is no longer a commercial port and harbour, but still serves a great deal of local and leisure water traffic. The area is well worth a look for its fascinating Georgian architecture and the "upper town".

Along the same stretch of coast you'll find places like Fraserburgh, Peterhead, Macduff, Rosehearty, buckie and Portnockie.

Gretna has been a haven for lovers and romantics for more than 250 years and this tradition is still going strong today with weddings at the famous Anvil Hall. Now, however, those weddings can also be seen live on the web.

Gretna Green was, and in some ways still is, the first changing post across the Scottish Border for the stagecoaches on the main London to Edinburgh route. This began Gretna's long association with the romance of the runaways and elopers.

It's fascinating to watch a bridge being built, and this is a big one! The construction scheme will take 2 years and include not only the bridge, but associated roads and road widening, cycle paths and roundabouts. The new bridge will help to ease traffic congestion in the area and across the River Forth as a whole; a problem which also constantly dogs the Forth Road Bridge at North Queensferry.

The bridge will be a wide single carriageway - 3 lanes wide. Taken with the existing bridge, the current road capacity across the River Forth at Kincardine will be more than doubled.

Mull of Galloway Lighthouse Webcam

Gulls, gales and grandeur of cliff and sea that is unsurpassed - this is the Mull of Galloway. It's as far South as you can go in Scotland, without falling off the 260ft cliffs. This view from the lighthouse is as rugged and awe-inspiring as any.

Controlling the camera you can move through numerous views of the treacherous seas and cliffs as well as of the lantern room itself. Nightime brings views of the light sweeping anti-clockwise, flashing every 20 seconds.

Built in 1830 the lighthouse at first showed "intermittent" or "occulting" lights, where two opaque cylindrical shades were moved up or down so as to meet and obscure the light at fixed intervals, with periods of darkness longer than those of light. The cost of this lighthouse was between £8,000 and £9,000. The contractor responsible for the building was Brebner and Scott of Edinburgh.

In 1971 Mull of Galloway was converted to electric. It is a sealed-beam light, mounted on gearless revolving pedestal, which uses a low-voltage rotary mechanism which suits a wide range of power supplies. The lamp units are light, produce a good beam for a very low power input and being sealed in a vacuum these do not deteriorate or tarnish, but the main advantage of this system is that it is almost fully automatic. The lightkeeper visited the lightroom hourly until 10pm and then did not have to go near it until extinguishing time the next morning, unless summoned by the alarm bell. The lamps are mass produced and so economical and the apparatus is convenient to install and maintain. The cleaning of the lighthouse is much easier, with no lenses to polish and no machinery to oil.

The lighthouse has had an interesting past. During the Second World War on 8 June 1944 at 7.30pm a Beaufighter aircraft crashed into the lighthouse stores building. It was foggy at the time, and two men were killed as part of the roof of the store was blown off.

Mull of Galloway Lighthouse was demanned in 1988 and is now remotely monitored from 84 George Street, Edinburgh. It is open to the public in summer.

Bassenthwaite Lake, Lake District

This view frames the beauty of Bassenthwaite Lake and the dramatic Skiddaw mountain and lake district fells. On a clear day you might even make out Catbells, one of the Lakes' most popular fell walks.

Bassenthwaite Lake, owned by the National Park Authority, is one of the largest of the lakes at 4 miles long and just under a mile wide, but also one of the shallowest (70 ft). It is the most northerly of the lakes, and has no major settlements on its shores. It is often full of sailing boats from Bassenthwaite Sailing Club.

There is a shore path running the length of the west shore of the lake, but there is no access to the east side except at Mirehouse. Here there is a small open-air theatre, built in 1974 for the reading of 'Morte d'Arthur' to the Tennyson society at the place where it is thought that Tennyson, who often stayed at Mirehouse, composed much of the poem.

Bassenthwaite is home to the rare vendace, an endangered fish species found only here and in Derwentwater.

The PGA Centenary Course, created by Jack Nicklaus, is a modern golf classic. This camera, on the 1st tee, overlooks the practice green, 1st hole, 1st tee and the Wee Course.

From the back tees, the PGA Centenary Course measures 7,088 yards, the longest inland course in Scotland. However, the tees are graded at each hole in five stages, including a challenging 6,558 yards from the white markers down to 5,072 from the red. Fittingly, the PGA Centenary Course begins by playing southeast towards the famed glen of the eagles sweeping up the Ochil Hills to the summit of the pass below Ben Shee which joins it to Glendevon.

A feature of the PGA Centenary Course is the feast of views of the spectacular countryside in which Gleneagles is set. Putting on the two-tier second green, you are distracted by the lush panorama of the rich Perthshire straths. As you move westwards over the next few holes, the rugged Grampians come into view on the right, then distantly purple ahead, Ben Vorlich and the mountains above the Trossachs.

This new landmark in the centre of Glasgow, just around the corner from the main railway station is Glasgow City Screen. A highly visible advertising platform the screen shows a new ad every 20 seconds, for 4 minutes, 7 days a week.

Carsington Water, Derbyshire

Carsington Water has been a very popular visitor attraction since the reservoir was opened by the Queen in May 1992.

The reservoir is owned and operated by Severn Trent Water and is part of a 'water compensation' scheme. This means that water is pumped in from the River Derwent at times of high rainfall, stored in the reservoir and returned to the Derwent when the river level would otherwise be too low to allow water extraction for treatment and drinking further downstream. No water is actually extracted from Carsington Water itself.

A remarkable centrepiece of the courtyard at Carsington Water, is the Kugel Stone, a ball of granite weighing over 1 tonne which revolves on a thin film of water under pressure. It can be moved with the touch of your hand!

There is a classroom within the courtyard offering pre-booked schools a full day of activities to complement school based work on a variety of themes relating to water and the environment.

Carsington Water is a local centre for outdoor activities - there is a sailing club active next door to the Visitor Centre, and there are many opportunities for walking and cycling around the reservoir and the surrounding villages.

This webcam overlooks The Cobb at Lyme Bay, Dorset. The Cobb is the ancient harbour wall you can see in many of the preset views, enjoyed by tourists, sunbathers and sea-jumpers alike, though in the winter-time there are not many hardy enough to make the jump.

Lyme Regis and its environs form part of the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and the coastline has been awarded the international accolade of a World Heritage Site designation, only one of two in England. Part of the reasoning for this is the well known instability of the cliffs which has made Lyme a mecca for fossil hunters.

This status puts its importance on a par with The Grand Canyon in America and The Great Barrier Reef in Australia.

The Lyme Regis area is a beautiful spot with plenty to do. Walking: The South West Coast Path, The Wessex Ridgeway, The Liberty Trail all pass through the town. Museums: The Philpot Town Museum, The Dinosaur Museum, The Town Mill, various other exhibitions and museums.

With the Black Cuillin towering at its back and the sparkling waters of Loch Sligachan at its foot, the hotel has served mountaineers, walkers and lovers of wild Highland scenery for over 175 years.

The Cuillin are a range of rocky mountains located on the Isle of Skye in the North West of Scotland. They are divided, visually and geologically into two distinct groups, the Red Cuillin and the Black Cuillin. The Red Cuillin are lower and, being less rocky, have fewer scrambles or climbs. Generally they receive less attention than their higher neighbours, and consequently the word Cuillin without a colour prefixed is often taken to mean the Black Cuillin.

The highest point of the Cuillin, and the Isle of Skye, is Sgurr Alasdair in the Black Cuillin.

Skye is renowned for its spectacular scenery, vibrant culture and heritage, as well as its abundant wildlife including the Golden Eagle, Sea Eagle, Red Deer and the Otter.

Oban Bay Webcam, West of Scotland

The views from this camera overlook the Bay area, where beyond lie the islands of the Inner Hebrides: Kerrera, which protects the town from Atlantic storms, the low, green island of Lismore, majestic Mull and the granite mountains of the Morvern peninsula. Beyond them, the sacred island of Iona, Coll, Colonsay and Tiree.

Look out for Caledonian MacBrayne Car ferries making their way slowly in and out of the Bay on their way to and from the isles.

Oban is justifiably known as the Gateway to the Isles. The town's south pier is the embarkation point for car ferries to Mull, Coll, Tiree, Barra, South Uist, Colonsay, Lismore and Islay. From these islands you can travel further afield to Iona, Staffa and to many of the smaller, less well known isles.

And it doesn't stop there. A short distance from the south pier along the Gallanach Road is the slipway for the Kerrera ferry, and a pleasant drive south allows you to take your car, or bike, over the Atlantic by bridge to the Island of Seil.

Watch out for travellers and webcam fans looking up at the camera from the Lookout Point near the water's edge. It's a great way to say hello to those at home.

This is a live webcam from the roof of the Mercure Castle Hotel, showing some famous historic landmarks in the town of Windsor. Includes Windsor Castle, one of the world's largest inhabited castles and Windsor High Street, where the Changing of the Guard procession takes place.

The town is situated 21 miles (34 km) west of Charing Cross, London and is immediately south of the River Thames, which forms its boundary with Eton. The village of Old Windsor, just over two miles to the south, predates what is now called Windsor by around 300 years; in the past Windsor was formally referred to as New Windsor to distinguish the two.

The castle, of which there are multiple views in this camera, was originally established by King William I of England but has been substantially altered and added to over the centuries.

When you think of London, what springs to mind? Big Ben? The River Thames? Houses of Parliament? Maybe it's the London Eye (Millennium Wheel is soooo last century!). Whatever your favourite view of London, it can probably be seen from this camera.

Encompassing Central London in one single view this is a popular camera showing London at its best. Stunning cityscapes, sublime sunsets and a window on the largest city in Great Britain like no other.

A wide view shows the long, wide sweep of the River Thames, while other views take in Westminster and that big old bell tower (Hmmm, can't think of its name...). Looking in the opposite direction the camera focuses on St Paul's Cathedral (a really close up view this one) and the City of London including the Gherkin and the Canary Wharf Tower.

Croyde Bay Surfcam, Devon

Croyde Bay is one of the UKs prime surf spots and is popular with surfers from all over who gather all the year round to take to the waves.

A real surfer's beach, Croyde works on all tides but is best at low tide when it gets hollow. High tide produces a long, peeling wave and works on winds from SE-NE and a southerly swell. It's also not always as cold as you may think!

The reef at Croyde works on a biggish swell and the bowl section is pretty intense. Beginners should avoid surfing or bodyboarding at low tide as rip currents can sometimes occur.

Sandown Beach on the Isle of Wight

Located right on the beach in Sandown, this barcam offers superb views of Sandown Bay, Shanklin, Luccombe Chine, the English Channel, Yaverland and Culver Cliffs.

Owner, Sean Ware, has been operating the site for over 20 years. Two years ago he demolished the old tea rooms to make way for the Driftwood Beachbar & Grill. When asked about how the new venture was going, he replied "Life's a beach".

We praise Sean for his breezy outlook on life and find that while you watch this cam at least, life really is a beach!

Stonehaven Harbour Webcam

A former country town of Kincardineshire, Stonehaven is widely recognised as one of Scotland's foremost holiday resorts and boasts a modern leisure centre and heated outdoor swimming pool.

Though no longer a substantial fishing port, it retains much of historic interest with the ancient Tollbooth close by the harbour and the majestic fourteenth century fortress of Dunottar on the cliff tops to the south of the town.

This is the largest of the recreational harbours in Aberdeenshire and has three basins extending to 18,200 square metres and 550 metres of berthing space on the quays. There are also additional mooring chains in the inner harbour.

Stonehaven harbour is a popular mooring point for yachts and small vessels. There are almost 140 regular moorings fully occupied and a waiting list for vacancies.

This camera shows various view around the harbour including the Shore Head, Downie Point, the beach, Bervie Braes and the old pier.

The Paradiski area of the French Alps takes in the two huge ski areas of La Plagne and Les Arcs linked by the new Vanoise Express cable car. Les Coches is perfectly placed in the centre giving quick and easy access to both areas, and this camera is in the heart of this picturesque alpine village.

This image gives superb views of Mont Blanc and the valley, views across to Vallendy, shots of ski lodges and chalets as well as some other general scenic views - snowy most of the year round.

Eilean Donan Castle Webcam

You are viewing a live and spectacular webcam of perhaps Scotland's most famous, and certainly most photographed castle. Sitting amidst the cool waters of Loch Long and only a stone's throw from the Isle of Skye and the Cuillin Hills.

The castle sits on an island between three lochs; Loch Long, Loch Alsh and Loch Duich. It stands on the remains of a Pictish Fort and was once inhabited by the religious hermit, St. Donan. Hence the name Eilean Donan (Island of Donan).

In 1984 it featured in the movie Highlander with Christopher Lambert and Sean Connery. This is not the only film Eilean Donan Castle has featured in, of course. It's quite the film star. It's even in Monty Python and the Holy Grail!

Edinburgh Castle Esplanade

Welcome to the Edinburgh Castle Webcam, strategically positioned within the famous Cannonball House on the east side of the Esplanade of Edinburgh Castle.

The Castle Esplanade is the venue of the world-famous Edinburgh Military Tattoo, the annual occasion on which, over a period of three weeks in August, the Army presents a lively programme of music, marching and historical re-enactments under floodlights before large and appreciative audiences.

The Edinburgh Tattoo is the most spectacular show in the world, enjoyed by an international television audience of 100 million. But there's no substitute for being there, as part of the 217,000-strong audience over its three-week season on the Esplanade at Edinburgh Castle who don't simply watch the show but become a part of it.

Edinburgh Castle is also the home of the One O'Clock Gun. This is fired every day except Sunday at precisely 1.00pm to provide everyone with an accurate check for their clocks and watches. You can hear it for miles.
